Robert Maynard was taught by his father who has been a professional wedding photographer for over 25 years. To begin with, he learnt the skills as a hobby, following his father's passion for photography and enjoyment of the outdoors. When Rob was aged 7 he became a keen carp angler, and his father always brought his camera to the lake to take photos of Rob's catch. Around 2010, Rob decided to buy his own camera to capture his experiences of fishing and his father advised him to first buy a Nikon D7000 and lens. Rob experimented with this camera and became very interested in photography as a hobby.
Rob always carries his camera bag and enjoys taking photos of the landscape wherever he travels to. He now feels very passionate about his photography. Despite his obvious talent, Robert has never received any formal training in landscape photography, and has learnt mostly by trial and error whilst enjoying the outdoors.
He has built a portfolio of truly unique photographs, capturing many of the beautiful natural landscapes in the U.K., and Sussex in particular. His work is promoted on his website and is available as limited edition and artist’sproofs.
Robert's wishes about his photographs are: "I hope you find something to inspire you in my depictions of the natural beauty that surrounds us.”
Awards and Achievements:
Robert's work has been highly commended, and has featured in various major competitions. In 2015 and 2016, he was awarded third place in two different competitions for his work called 'Black Forest' and 'Frozen Park'. Robert was also delighted to recently receive a licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society.
